Back to School -- Time for You

Posted on 09/1/2015

It’s back-to-school time already and schedules are being set, routines are back and there’s finally time for YOU!

Back To School

Fall is a great time to focus on you.
Get back to a healthier routine -- eating a healthy diet, being more active and/or overhauling your lifestyle. Why? It’s easier when the kids are back in school, schedules are more set than summer and the focus can be on family health once again!

Remember, fads come and go, but well-balanced diets never go out of style. A healthy, balanced diet, one inclusive of all food groups is ideal for overall good health. Skip the latest Hollywood diet or the biggest fad sweeping the nation, a diet rich in heart-healthy whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables and lean sources of protein make up the basis of a sound, healthy diet.

And, don’t think diet is a four-letter word. Diet is what everyone eats, drinks and consumes in order to sustain life. Let your diet be the healthiest possible to ensure you are getting all the vital nutrients your body needs to run efficiently. Diet is not about restriction or deprivation!

If all of this talk about making more time for you, and getting back to a healthier routine has you excited? Why wait until tomorrow what you can start today. Little by little, small changes add up to big results.

You know my thoughts on soda, so if you drink it, cut back until you are totally free of it. Perhaps desserts are ‘your thing’ that you can’t live without? Fresh fruit desserts are ideal to end any meal. Maybe you like salty fare? Start by stopping your shaker habit at the table and slowly reduce your intake little by little. Before you know it, these small actions will add up to increased health.

Too busy to shop, chop and prepare?
