Hi, I'm Renee Ficek, registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator with three tips to make sure that those 2016 New Year's resolutions actually happen this year.
The third tip is to not overdo it. Don't make yourself five resolutions. Limit your resolutions to one and make sure that it's something that's really important to you.
Tip number two is to be realistic. Don't set yourself up for failure this year by trying to lose 50 pounds in one month or saying that you're never going to eat your favorite food again because those things just won't happen.
And the first and final tip is to make sure that those goals are specific. Don't just say you're going to lose weight. Say you're going to lose 20 pounds over the period of three months by cutting out 500 calories per day or don't say you're going to exercise more. Say that you're going to exercise Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays for 45 minutes each. So there's your tips and good luck to you in 2016.
