Hi, I’m Rene Ficeck, registered dietitian nutritionist. March is National Nutrition Month, so I wanted to take the opportunity to share some of my favorite healthy foods with you.
First off, we have eggs. Eggs are an amazing source of protein, and in fact, compared to any other protein source out there, our bodies absorb the protein from eggs the very best. Not only that, but they are full of B vitamins and iron, making them a nutritional powerhouse.
Next, we have avocados. Avocados are jammed packed full of fat, yes, but the good fat. The monounsaturated fat helps to promote blood flow and it also helps to reduce inflammation, which makes them great for heart health.
Next, we have blueberries. Blueberries are jammed packed full of antioxidants. Antioxidants help reduce oxidative stress, which reduces your risk for certain types of cancers and also helps promote brain health.
Next, we have yogurt. Yogurt is full of complex carbohydrates and protein, which actually make it a great food to help control hunger. And not only that, but yogurt is full of good bacteria, which really helps to improve the immune system.
You’ll want to try and include these foods in regular meals and regular snacks, and for meal ideas and how to do that, check out www.seattlesutton.com.
