Hi. I'm Rene Ficek, registered dietitian nutritionist. Happy New Year! Let's start 2018 off with a bang, the healthy way!

Start with Group Exercise

First, exercise is a must and if the gym intimidates you, you are not alone. Start with group exercise instead. There's walking clubs, yoga, spin classes, Tai Bo to ever Zumba. They're great opportunities to meet like-minded individuals and to really get that blood flowing.

Start Your Morning Off Right

And start your year off right by starting your mornings off right. Eating high sugar foods in the morning is one of the worst things you can do if you like to start your day off right and feel great. So trade in those donuts and those muffins for a higher protein breakfast with eggs, yogurt or nut butters. It can set the pace for healthy eating all day long.

Schedule Your Medical Exams

Lastly, place priority on maintaining your health this year. We are all very busy and it's easy to put off those medical exams, vision exams or health screenings. But this year, take the initiative and schedule all of those appointments that you've been putting off. Your body will thank you.
