Hi, I’m Rene Ficek, registered dietitian nutritionist. Spring is here, and as we all know, April showers bring May flowers. For some, the rainy and dreary weather make it hard to snack healthy. But with a little bit of knowhow and the use of some seasonal ingredients, it does not have to be so hard.

Keep Healthy Snacks on Hand

Increased temperatures mean we are on the go more often so snacking smart is a must. Be sure to stock your purse or your car with granola bars, dried fruit, or nuts to have healthy snacks on hand at all times.

Hard Boiled Eggs

Also, yes, eggs are in fact healthy and many of us have plenty of hard boiled eggs lying around come Easter time. As a snack, enjoy a hard boiled egg on an English muffin or maybe an egg salad mixed with some bright, seasonal herbs.

Smoked Salmon Asparagus Rolls

Last, we have smoked salmon asparagus rolls which are great to have as a snack. It’s healthy, delicious, and super easy to make. All you need is some smoked salmon, or turkey if you prefer, asparagus, black pepper, salt, and a little bit of olive oil.
