Hmmm. If a hundred million Americans each saved an hour a week by using renewable energy, why that would be….one hundred million fewer oil hours! That’s 4.2 million fewer oil/coal days. Or 11,415 years. Every week!

The president of my alma mater, Jamestown College in North Dakota, is visiting me next week. A warm Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating welcome to Dr. Robert Badal and his wife Donna.

Why are we in the midst of an obesity epidemic? Because people are consuming more calories than they are burning. Why? Here’s one explanation. Americans are eating too-large portions of unhealthy meals from fast food restaurants. And what else? Sitting too much while watching television, playing video games, or working/playing at their computer.
Come on people! We don’t have to mindlessly repeat actions which are harmful to our health. The mission of Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating is to help change our eating habits. As for exercise…well, it’s easier than you think. Taking a walk three or four times a week can make a big difference.

As promised, here’s the inside scoop on the rapidly becoming infamous recent Atkins Diet study. By now you probably know that the American Heart Association has taken the researchers to task. Did you know why?
Because the researchers—who were funded by an arm of the Atkins Diet industry—used outdated criteria. Inexplicably, they cited AHA recommendations issued in 2000 instead of the newer and more scientifically valid information from 2006.
Do you think this skewed the results? Well, I don’t know. But it’s suspicious. Also, the Atkins research focused mainly on men (86% of those studied were men). Women, as many have noticed, are different from men.
Additionally, the study was conducted over a two-year period, which is not long enough to detect the long term negative effects of an absence of carbohydrates in the human body.
I applaud the American Heart Association’s integrity in correcting the initial false impression that the study somehow proved that the Atkins Diet was actually healthy. It is not.

Yes, people can drop pounds on the Atkins Diet. They can also lose weight on Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, and Nutri-System. At least for a little while. Calories in versus calories out.
Will the weight stay off? Are these diets healthy? Or palatable? I think you know the answers.
Please believe me when I tell you that Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating is the real deal. The meals are fresh and include important healthy eating necessities like fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, and dairy. The taste is pleasing, and the results are excellent. Healthy means healthful.
Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating is the way nature intended for us to eat. Yes, that’s my claim, and I think the AHA will back me all the way.
She made healthy eating her mission in life long before anyone else did, in hopes of helping her own obese father. A registered nurse by training and entrepreneur at heart, she lives, eats and breathes everything about healthy eating and helping to improve people’s eating habits and overall health. She enjoys never having to bother with grocery shopping, cooking and counting calories. Her favorite SSHE meal, although it’s hard to pick just one, is the Potato Gnocchi with Basil Pesto Sauce.
