Two Thousand Babies

Posted on 12/19/2008

This week Kelly and I had fun at the annual holiday party thrown by Gene Carlson, who owns Schott’s Pharmacy in our home town of Marseilles.  We enjoy Gene’s company and have an enduring relationship with him, with Kelly being the town’s doctor for so long, and Schott’s being the main pharmacy in town.

Gene, who is very active in community service, arranges a festive gathering.  Kelly has known many of the people we see there since before they took their first breath.  My wonderful doctor husband estimates he has helped over 2,000 babies enter the world.  I guess I could scold him about the dangers of over-population, but since I like most of the people, I won’t.

We crossed paths with Dr. Terry Love—a physician on the staff of Ottawa Regional Hospital—and a medical student with him.  The student said an enthusiastic hello to Kelly and me, and quickly proceeded to inform us that his mother and sister (who live in the Palos Heights area)were on Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating.  And they like it!   Not surprising, but good to hear.

One of my friends is having extensive dental work and, after several visits, overheard the dentist explaining to his assistant that he and his wife were on this new meals plan, Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating.  With a mouth full of dental instruments, my friend could do little but listen.  Guess what?   The dentist and his wife?  They like Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating.  Not surprising, but always good to hear.

Well, as many of you know, Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating is closing down for two weeks.  Our people work hard all year…and the meals have to be freshly prepared and delivered twice a week, whether the weather is calm or wild.

I know that many of you would prefer that we not close, but we feel it’s the right action, all things considered.   A lot of our customers purchased the holiday package, so that helps.

Please remember to think and eat smart during the holidays.  A few tastes can be more pleasing than thoughtless gluttony.   Be aware of what you put into your mouth.

And remember that during the last week of December it’s again time to order Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating, so you can receive our meals the next week and launch another year of healthy eating.

She made healthy eating her mission in life long before anyone else did, in hopes of helping her own obese father. A registered nurse by training and entrepreneur at heart, she lives, eats and breathes everything about healthy eating and helping to improve people’s eating habits and overall health.
