Sons & Daughters

Some of you may have read a few blogs ago that I am a great grandmother. The Sutton family is growing….Yes, it’s true! I guess I did not officially announce it. Sorry, dear readers. So, I would like to report that I’m the proud great grandmother of our first born great grandchild, Gehrig. He was born last month and is a healthy, happy baby.  Oh, family brings me such great joy in life. I look forward to this next chapter in my life as a great grandmother.

It just seems like yesterday when our children when young. One of my favorite memories when the kids were small was taking them to the Marseilles swimming pool in the summertime. It was (and still is) a wonderful place to spend hours. It wasn’t easy to entertain 5 little ones, but the pool always offered hours of enjoyment for us all. Years ago, the pool had fallen into poor condition due to years of neglect. So, a wonderful woman named Rose Rieuf took it upon herself to raise funds to revitalize it through the creation of the Marseilles Swimming Pool Fund. Undoubtedly she too had fond memories there. The community pitched in to help. Now it’s in wonderful condition and local children are enjoying it as my brood did years ago.

Speaking of family, as many of you may know from my blog, all 5 of our children are involved with the company in one capacity or another. Ruth handles distributor and franchisee relations. Sarah oversees advertising. Paula provides customer support for national Home Delivery and distributor clients. Pete and Christopher both provide counsel on technology related matters. Pete also recently added to his duties by taking on payroll. Their involvement makes me so very proud.

I’m also so thrilled to have two of our granddaughters, Anna and Erin, with the company. They work with distributors, attend events with me and work on various projects, such as direct mailings and attending food showings. I look forward to welcoming more of my grandchildren to the business after they’ve completed their studies, if they should choose to come to work for the family business. Who knows, maybe baby Gehrig will also one day join the company…I can only hope.

Since I’m talking about my family, I want to share a funny story with you about my granddaughter Kayla, who’s studying architectural engineering. She’s going to Australia this summer to study abroad and build a church.  Anyway, Kayla was recently on Facebook and searched my name and found a group called, “Sleepless With Seattle Sutton!” The group describes itself as….“How could you not love a gal like Seattle Sutton? She is high class all the way. Move over Martha Stewart, because here comes a lady who can cook a mean turkey tetrazzini - and guess what? She's not on house arrest! The only thing Seattle is doing insider trading with is sharing wholesome gourmet recipes. This is a fan club givin' it up for our white homegirl.”  Kayla sent it around to the family and said, “Go Grandma!” Thanks Kayla. And, thanks “Sleepless With Seattle Sutton” for your support.

Sons and daughters: please don’t forget about your dad. Father’s Day is soon approaching. It’s June 21, just in case you forgot, and what a better gift to give him than the gift of health? Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating gift certificates make a wonderful present. It’s not too late…go online or call our 800# and buy yours today.  Let dad know you care about him and his health with healthy eating.  How often have people lost a family member or close friend and looked back and wished they had done more to support them with healthy eating? I know I have with my own father who died way too young.

Seattle Sutton, BSN, RN

She made healthy eating her mission in life long before anyone else did, in hopes of helping her own obese father. A registered nurse by training and entrepreneur at heart, she lives, eats and breathes everything about healthy eating and helping to improve people’s eating habits and overall health. She enjoys never having to bother with grocery shopping, cooking and counting calories. Her favorite SSHE meal, although it’s hard to pick just one, is the Potato Gnocchi with Basil Pesto Sauce.
