Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating, A Family Affair

Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating is a family affair. We are a third generation family owned and operated business. Even our family get togethers are opportunities for us to talk shop. We love it! 

I knew when I started the company 30 years ago that it would be big, because it was what people wanted and needed….but I wasn’t so sure my family – children and grandchildren would follow my footsteps so to speak. Everyday is a treat to be able to spend time with family.

Some people say, oh, that must be hard to work with family members day in and day out. We do not feel that way. In fact, we feel it’s a blessing to be able to work with those closest to us. 

Our customers benefit from this close-knit family business, in fact, when a potential client or client calls our 800#, they talk to a Sutton. Not someone in a call center half way around the world in a third world country, taking a job from an American. No, a Sutton is whom they will speak with! 

If there is an issue with a meal, they talk to my daughter, Ruth Sutton Egofske. She handles all the client relations’ calls that are escalated and require her attention and expertise. Ruth was after all a retailer for years when I first stated the company. She knows it inside and out. She’s done it for most of her adult life, aside from being a registered nurse like me, and her two sisters – Paula and Sarah. Ruth was the one that said to me, “Mom, I will help you do whatever it takes to make it successful,”….and she did. Thank you, Ruth for your dedication to my mission and believing in it all these years.

Ruth had a call recently that most would not think twice about, but she as a nurse knew there was more to it as she asked more and more questions. Then, she became concerned and directed the caller to the doctor to follow up and rule out what she feared…appendicitis. That call on that particular day, could have saved the person’s life. If she had not picked up the phone and said she was not well, and knowing there were no issues with the meals or any other instances of such complaints, Ruth put her nurses hat on and went to work. 

Yes, such attention to customer service is rare but it is not dead. We truly believe in providing the best service, even if it falls outside the normal scope of business. Maybe it’s because I am a registered nurse and so too are my daughters, but we want to help people. If that means, staying on the phone and answering more questions then that’s what we do. We truly care about our clients and potential clients. 

Our mission has been and continues to be to improve people’s eating habits and overall health. We are fulfilling that mission day in and day out, side by side with family members. One meal at a time…

She made healthy eating her mission in life long before anyone else did, in hopes of helping her own obese father. A registered nurse by training and entrepreneur at heart, she lives, eats and breathes everything about healthy eating and helping to improve people’s eating habits and overall health. She enjoys never having to bother with grocery shopping, cooking and counting calories. Her favorite SSHE meal, although it’s hard to pick just one, is the Potato Gnocchi with Basil Pesto Sauce.
