Running a 5K is no small task and it is an especially great accomplishment for two former LaSalle County Slim Down contestants who never ran in their lives before starting on SSHE meals. I'm proud of Ryan and Janna, who were contestants in our LaSalle County Slim Down earlier this year for tackling their first 5K. A few weeks ago they accomplished a goal of running a 5K and since that first run, they have signed up for another one.
Speaking of our LaSalle County Slim Down contestants, we recently saw a few of them when we invited them to our headquarters for a tour of our operations. Unfortunately, due to the time of day when our production is at full swing not everyone could join us. However, it was great to see many of them and see how well they are doing since the contest concluded on April 18th. Many mentioned how they have been on the meals from time to time since the end of the contest this past spring.
As you know, Janna and Ryan are now running 5Ks...way to go you two! Kristen has continued to lose even more weight, 1.5 pounds. You look amazing Kristen! Andrea has gone on and lost more weight -- 5 more pounds. Way to go, Andrea, keep it up! Heather has surpassed her weight loss from our final weigh in and gone on to lose more (6 pounds more), along side her dedicated husband. Yay Heather! You are a great role model for your patients and fellow nurses! Bob B. also has dropped even more weight (3.75 pounds) since the final weigh in. You are heading in the right direction, Bob, keep it up!
See, long after a contest ends, people continue with the healthy habits they learned and that essentially is our goal. For them to create new healthy habits and live a healthier lifestyle.
Remember, it is not a prized possession that is most important in life rather it's good health...without it, you have nothing else.
Speaking of Slim Down contestants, our DuPage County Slim Down is in full swing. The contestants are now in their 6th week and down a total of 194.8 pounds. You are doing a great job, just remember the basics of calories in versus calories out and you will be fine.
