We are pitching in and helping out Marseilles flood victims with food, water, cleaning supplies and one of our company's refrigerated trucks. The company donated a refrigerated truck to the American Legion in Marseilles to help with storing perishable foods, as well as threw in our healthy meals and bottled water to help those who have been impacted by the flooding. In addition, we also donated cleaning supplies and garbage bags to the Lions Club.
We are truly dedicated to our neighbors and want to help out however we can in this time of need. My daughter Sarah Sutton Borgstrom, from Morris, dropped off food from her own kitchen she prepared on Monday. It's then when she learned about the need of refrigeration and more food and bottled water. That sent Sarah into action to get us to pitch in and help the area so impacted by flood waters.
I've instructed for the truck to stay there until it is no longer needed. We also are continuing to donate food and water until nobody is in need. It's the right thing to do, and the only thing to do...to help our neighbors.
I'm also writing Governor Quinn a letter, imploring him to help expedite the FEMA process so the residents of Marseilles and the entire area get the much needed help they so need.
So many good people have lost everything. It truly is heartbreaking. I sure hope Governor Quinn, FEMA and President Obama can take swift action to help those in need.
