Eating right, is an allusive and daunting task for many people but it doesn’t have to be! Once you have the basics down so-to-speak, it becomes easier to do. And, before you know it, it is your new normal routine.
In celebration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics annual nutrition education and information campaign called “National Nutrition Month” I want to provide you with information, so you achieve the goal of eating healthy more easily.
This year, the Academy is encouraging the public to “Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right.” This theme is combining taste and nutrition to create healthy meals that follow their recommendations from the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
I agree, healthy eating can and should taste great while delivering the proper nutrition for optimal health. It’s a misconception that healthy foods don’t taste good…I beg to differ! I think they taste even better. Have you tried our meals lately? Simply healthy eating at its best!
Here are a few quick tips to help you eat healthier:
1. Choose to eat fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat or fat-free dairy products.
2. Include lean sources of protein, such as lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, legumes, nuts and eggs.
3. Watch out for saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt (sodium) and added sugars.
In case that sounds like “too much work” as we often hear, then let us do the work for you! We count the calories and make sure you eating what you should be eating.
