Mother's Day Gift

Posted on 05/2/2013

The best Mother's Day gift I can think of for any mom is to give her time to do something she enjoys. Sure, we mothers all love to care for our children and families but we also have outside interests. We may not have the spare time we once had, but when we do have it sometimes just a little rest and relaxation is all we want (and need).

I know when I had 5 small children at home I had times when I needed a break. My husband Kelly understood this and encouraged me to get out every week. We would hire a babysitter and go out every week on a date away from the kids. It was hard some times to go, but we always went and afterwards I was glad we went out.

I also know when you are juggling family and work, it is difficult to do for yourself as a mom. I still have difficulty doing for myself before doing for others. I guess it is in my "mom DNA."

That's why I encourage all children out there to do for their moms this Mother's Day. Give her some free time to enjoy something she loves to do or for some R&R.

You have a few weeks before Mother's Day, so start asking questions, or just notice things in photos that your mom did and maybe doesn't do anymore. Then, provide her some free time. Give her a gift that will enable her to have some "me time"...she will thank you for it, believe me. She may resist and say she doesn't want it or need it, but she does.

If you are not sure about what to give mom this Mother's Day, consider our gift certificates. She will enjoy our freshly prepared meals for a week, or give her some money towards a week if you can't provide an entire week...certificates start at just $25. Maybe include a nice note about how she always provides for you and the family and you want to give her something she will enjoy...some much-needed time for herself.

Oh, in case you didn't realize it, Mother's Day is May 12th.
