After a lifetime of being overweight, Jan Wilke, of Grayslake, Ill., reached 300 lbs. and realized she needed to embark on a journey to gain a healthy lifestyle. Fifteen months and more than half her size later, weighing 130 pounds, Jan accomplished her goal with the help of our healthy, delicious meals and changed her life.
Jan’s weight loss determination began when she saw her life and health deteriorating. Her fear to leave the house, leg pains and shortness of breath were conditions Jan lived with daily. Even though she has a degree in fashion, and has a passion for it, she would only wear the same two outfits because of her size. Jan took her health into her own hands in May 2013, with the help of her family and friends. Shortly after, Jan learned that food can be her fuel and not a friend when consuming Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating meals.
Jan has been dedicated and kept the weight off by learning to eat right. With a daily goal of 4,000 steps, she also now tries to stay active with walks around her home, while SSHE makes sticking to a healthy, fresh diet simple and easy. Staying on track with SSHE’s 1,200-calorie meal plan, Jan finally learned how wonderful she could feel by eating healthy, nutrient-rich foods that keep her satisfied and energized.
Jan said this and it really stuck with me: “I have given away my nickname Jumbo Janet, along with all of my ‘too big’ clothes to charities because I know that I will not regain the weight. Never, ever in my life have I felt as energetic and healthy as I do now and the smaller size is a bonus. I could have never done it without the delicious meals from Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating!”
With more than half of her weight gone and happy with her new lifestyle, Jan has the energy to use her fashion skills, and has the confidence to make and wear new clothes to celebrate her new look. Jan is not only inspiring herself to try new activities, but she is also motivating friends and family to achieve their life-long weight loss goals.
She truly has an inspiring story that is bound to change many people’s lives, I just know it.

She made healthy eating her mission in life long before anyone else did, in hopes of helping her own obese father. A registered nurse by training and entrepreneur at heart, she lives, eats and breathes everything about healthy eating and helping to improve people’s eating habits and overall health. She enjoys never having to bother with grocery shopping, cooking and counting calories. Her favorite SSHE meal, although it’s hard to pick just one, is the Potato Gnocchi with Basil Pesto Sauce.
