I recently had the pleasure of attending an event the Cardiovascular Associates of Glenbrook and Evanston LLC (CAGE) hosted for their patients. The event called, "Improving Healthcare by Forming Health Partners" provided attendees with information by health partners' presenters about yoga, exercise and healthy eating.
The purpose of the event was for approximately 100 CAGE patients to be introduced to select partnerships CAGE has formed with various health-related providers. These partners were carefully chosen by CAGE, taking great care to select the finest for their patients.
By the way, CAGE defines health partners as hand picked providers of goods and services to help our patients achieve and maintain a healthier lifestyle. Pretty great, if you ask me considering SSHE is a health partner!
At the event, I was a featured speaker, along with several other health partners of the cardiac practice. The health partners in attendance besides Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating was The GH School for Healthy Living, White Iris Yoga, Cindy Bertrand CPT, CES, CMT, Marty Biondi, PT, CSCS, The Runner's Edge, Chicago Home Fitness and Five Seasons Sports Club.
Of course, I spoke about how important diet is in terms of overall good health. I also discussed my 25-year old freshly prepared meal program and how the program is ideal for anyone needing calorie controlled meals, low in sodium, fat, cholesterol and saturated fat. This is especially true for those cardiac patients!
This cardiac practice is truly making healthy connections for their patients as a way to help improve their health beyond the scope of traditional medicine. I applaud their efforts and agree more practitioners out there should follow their lead and think outside the box.
CAGE is somewhat unique in that the practice sees value in offering its patients information far beyond the prescription pad. They have carefully selected health partners to help with this initiative and provide patients with information to create new tools to make lifestyle changes. Way to go!
She made healthy eating her mission in life long before anyone else did, in hopes of helping her own obese father. A registered nurse by training and entrepreneur at heart, she lives, eats and breathes everything about healthy eating and helping to improve people’s eating habits and overall health. She enjoys never having to bother with grocery shopping, cooking and counting calories. Her favorite SSHE meal, although it’s hard to pick just one, is the Potato Gnocchi with Basil Pesto Sauce.
