American Diabetes Month®

Posted on 11/19/2014

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) envisions one day of life free of diabetes and its burdens it has on millions of people in this country.

November is American Diabetes Month® which was developed by the ADA to help raise awareness of this ever-growing disease and is one of the main efforts behind its mission.

Did you know?

-        Nearly 30 million children and adults in the U.S. have some form of diabetes.

-        Nearly 90 million Americans have pre-diabetes and are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

-        The American Diabetes Association estimates the total cost of diagnosed diabetes in the U.S. is $245 billion a year.

Seattle Sutton, BSN, RN

She made healthy eating her mission in life long before anyone else did, in hopes of helping her own obese father. A registered nurse by training and entrepreneur at heart, she lives, eats and breathes everything about healthy eating and helping to improve people’s eating habits and overall health. She enjoys never having to bother with grocery shopping, cooking and counting calories. Her favorite SSHE meal, although it’s hard to pick just one, is the Potato Gnocchi with Basil Pesto Sauce.
