Founded in 1985 by registered nurse, Seattle Sutton at the age of 53.
Family owned and operated business, today spanning three generations is located in Ottawa, Ill.
Sutton started with a $1,000 investment and grew it to a multi-million dollar business without any loans, investments or grants.
There are more than 40 retail locations in Illinois, northwest Indiana and southern Wisconsin. Additional locations throughout Minnesota through the MN franchise.
USDA inspected kitchen facilities manufacture meals in Illinois and Minnesota. The Illinois facility spans 40,000 square feet and was built in 2000. The Minnesota facility totals 12,000 square feet and was built in 2007.
The company began as Diet Carry Out and changed its name in 1992 to Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating (SSHE).
Today the company has 108 employees, but only 3 when it began.
Company mission: To improve people’s eating habits and overall health.
Healthy eating is personal. Sutton’s own father died from complications of obesity.
Seattle and her three daughters are all registered nurses.
SSHE meals are freshly prepared meals including fresh fruit and salads are available nationwide.
Produced as many as 180,000 meals per week, up from just 231 in 1985.
Since inception it has produced more than 80 million meals and counting.
Weight loss and health are the main goals for most clients on SSHE meals.
The 5-week menu rotation allows for variety, never repeating meals in the 5 weeks.
